Polar Focus assisted Chris Naughton of Pro Sound and Lights in Nicholasville, KY with this recent installation at Asbury University in Wilmore, KY. Hughes Auditorium is the primary venue for the University, which holds three chapel services a week in the sanctuary.
From an engineering standpoint, the challenge with this project was designing safe roof attachment. The apertures through the ceiling already existed, and the line array had to be supported through the existing openings.
Roof trusses were not located anywhere close to the location of the apertures. Polar Focus designed and fabricated attachment interfaces between the custom length Applied Electronics truss and the roofing truss panel point locations. Polar Focus designed a custom spreader below the ceiling which aligns to the existing apertures through the ceiling.
The loudspeakers in this installation are eight WorxAudio TrueLine V8i-P line array elements, painted white to blend aesthetically with the character of the room. All Polar Focus components were painted white to blend in with the speakers and ceiling. The result is a beautiful, clean look which doesn’t obscure the view of the motto painted behind the stage, an issue of critical importance to the venue.
